Kalani grew up in a challenging environment, she has a dream that seems almost impossible. She wants to attend Yale University and become a lawyer someday. But between family struggles, financial difficulties, and the responsibilities placed on her shoulders, achieving that dream becomes a difficult journey.

One thing I admired about Kalani is that she wasn't just fighting for herself. She was also carrying the weight of her family all together.
Kalani also had someone who believed in her when things became difficult, her school counselor, Mr. Rose.
Sometimes, all someone needs is one person who sees their potential and recognized it before they see it themselves. Mr. Rose constantly encouraged her to aim higher, participate more, and believe that she was capable of achieving greatness.
Kalani was the only Black student in her class. She had to constantly prove herself while dealing with challenges that many people around her didn't understand.
The movie also shows the reality of family struggles.
With her father leaving the family for another household, her older brother Jacob passing away, and her younger sister getting pregnant, Kalani's life becomes more complicated. She could have given up, but she chooses to keep moving forward.
That is what makes her story inspiring.
Kalani teaches us that success is not only about talent or intelligence. Success also comes from determination, resilience, and the courage to continue even when life becomes difficult.
