My daughter can learn the state education system in 1 hour per day.
No idea what they do for the other 7 hours except tell the kids what to do.
So in the summer we came up with new ideas with regards to things to try, outdoor things you see.
I bought her her first archery set and she loves it, so to join in I have bought one for me.
55lbs it is and is a work out all in itself loading it pulling the arrow and string back. (my wife can not do it.)
We also start guitar and swimming lessons for her from the start of next month.
When thinking of things the state education do not do, we also came up with other ideas like monetary budgeting, getting paid for light duties both to understand how money works, how easy it is to spend, and how hard it can be to come by.
Challenging authority.
My schooling was based on trust the teacher, respect the teacher, teacher knows best.
Well that did not work out well. Had 1 teacher, Mr Brown, he used to wait for me to arrive at the gate, call me over and spank my backside for daring to wear trouser braces down. (I am certain he got aroused by this.)
I was a fashion victim at the time, 11 and a skinhead, just to fit in with my peers, the follies of youth.
Trust the police. & challenging authority.
That was another notion thrust on me by my parents, though back then they did not look like they were military and were not carrying guns.
This last 19 months has turned my daughter against the police, and they deserve it, there is also nothing I can do to change that. She has seen the bullying and injustice, as have most of us, here at least.
So I have given her free reign to challenge even me and her mother if she thinks it is unjust.
With debate and logic, not temper tantrums.
It has worked well for her communication skills and negotiation skills.
Yet another thing a school would never allow.
She has also had some rifle target practice shooting, with a pellet gun not a real one, I keep them under lock and key.
