Home schooling is the method of teaching a child of school age at home by their family members who have the liberty to pick and choose their choice of curriculum and aspects to teach the students, unlike the traditional schooling system where the entire education system follows the same curriculum and can't go beyond what has been laid down. If I were to pick between home schooling and the traditional schooling system for my children, which would I go for? Below I'll state my take on the subject matter, so without further ado, let's get to it.
But before I state which one I'll prefer for my children that of schooling age, let's start by exploring both styles of schooling. Starting with home schooling, like I stated earlier, home schooling mostly only takes place at home, and the tutors are mostly the kids' parents, private tutors, or guidance who teach the child according to their preferred curriculum and subject area. This style of school seems to be a very flexible style that allows both lessons and the teaching and schedules of lessons to be stated for a favorable period.
Traditional schooling, on the other hand, only takes place in schools, and trained teachers are employed to tutor students, but the traditional schooling system follows an already laid-down curriculum; it has a fixed layout learning schedule, and the like. The downside to this is just that using the same style for all students can be costly because the same style won't work for all students, unlike home schooling styles that are flexible and can be changed to suit the preferred understandable style of the students. To be honest, both are great in their own way. As I said earlier, home schooling brings about flexibility and a personalized learning style, while traditional schooling, on the other hand, is a style built on structure and an enhanced social experience.
Now talking about the preferred style I'll pick to raise my child, I've explored both styles of schooling and find both home schooling and the traditional schooling system exciting, and they both have their own good sides. Home schooling has a flexible style that is shaped to suit their child's learning capabilities, but it has lapses when it comes to socialization, but then we all know socialization is essential for us humans and for children especially. Traditional schooling, on the other hand, has a solid structure and a social experience that helps students in socializing; however, its structured curriculum isn't favorable for all students.
And for that reason, that's why I'll work towards a middle ground. By middle ground, I mean a combination of both, whereby children go to traditional schools but still have to undergo my own home schooling style. That's just meant to introduce some things that'll most likely be taught that are wrong or that they shouldn't be taught. On the other hand, I'll also be teaching them things traditionally schools might not teach but are important for the real world.
That's about it for today, What's your opinion on this subject matter and which schooling style will you prefer for your child, Home schooling or traditional schooling?
