Have you ever slept beside someone who keeps mumbling and gibbering while they're deep asleep? Well, I did and I was dead scared. The scariest part was when the individual paused and then replied as If he was in a real conversation with some unseen persons, a few times he made a gesture with his hands to pass a message.

I had gone for an occasion in which I was invited and the partying continued until 12:00am. A few minutes later I was dizzy and I decided to lay my head in the available space in-between some boys who had come for the occasion too. At around 2:00am, the boy who was sleeping next to me started to talk. At first I assumed he was on call but was shocked when I turned around and noticed his eyes were closed and had no phone with him. I woke up and kept staring at him for a few minutes to understand what was going on, and it continued.

Everyone was asleep except me, the evening was calm, I could hear his mumbling and chuckles echo in the room. A few times he laughed, carelessly throwing his hands in the air like he was engrossed in the conversation, chill ripples ran through my nerves, all I could think of was "there's a spirit in this room", and the boy was definitely talking with one of the spirits. I tapped the sleeping boy out of fear just to alert him that someone was awake, that only seemed to work for a few minutes before he continued again, this time I knew I was in a big mess. There was nowhere I could go that night, the outside was scary itself. I thought to myself, if I'm going to survive this, I need a companion who will stay awake with me. By that time the boy's sleep-talking was louder and stopping in intervals as if listening to the second party before knowing what to respond. My mum had once told me people sleep talk after they have played a lot during the day, but this wasn't any talk, it looked structured.I had to wake the other person sleeping in the opposite direction, all I could do was point a finger at the boy mumbling " He's talking to someone strange" I said. The guy laughed, taking me not seriously.

I started feeling awful.
"He does that" was what the guy said before returning to sleep. It happened that the guy was his friend. That word above was what encouraged me to stay alive until the next morning. It was like a big break at last as the morning came, I couldn't wait to leave, I knew it was just for that night. I didn't dare ask the boy any question, my joy was that I managed to survive the night as some hero without suffocating. I later browsed through the internet and learned what it was, but it's such a quirk I detest.
