I was too young to phantom what was happening,as i peeped from the curtain that was now exposed to have a glimpse of the scene. There was my mum and dad yelling at each other , anger could be sensed from their faces that was hot red. The evening has started on a good note, but a slip of tongue falling on a wrong word dashed the happy mood. I have never seen my dad angered or maybe he had accumulated the past anger for today. Still wondering what was happening,I heard a loud sound that has popped up from my mum's cheek as a result of a slap, with no second thought, my mum retaliated with a double slap.that was all my dad waited for to call it a divorce.

He quietly walked to his wardrobe, as he selected the clothes he do be needing. my mum sat at the other end of the bed, with her head bent probably with regret but she said no word, occasionally, she lifted her head to watch him. "Am leaving this marriage for good" He said to my mum.
" What!, What about our children, Please tonight action doesn't call for this" my mum pleaded. But I believe his mind was made up already , no amount of plead soften his heart. I remembered running after him crying, asking him to come back home, he picked me up embraced me and promised me he was coming back, but that never happened.

My Mum was sorry for her reaction, but she still kept faith he was coming back home. Days passed and gradually to years, my mum still waited patiently hoping he do return. Even when she was told he got married few months after the divorce, she never wanted to leave her mother-in-law's resident, maybe because she had always wanted to marry just a man or she desired we were raised with our Dad. But then he never came back.

When it was obvious he loved his new home, my mum had no choice than to leave. leaving me behind with my grandma. I started suffering from an illness that stayed from my age four to age 13. It came so severe that my memory of the past started fading away and at some point, I assumed my grandma was my biological mum and that I grew up an orphan. I can't tell if it was as a result of the divorce or neglect, but it affected my childhood programming.

I grew up in my grandma's care, and she really sacrificed to see that I regained my health, and so funny that my parents were reintroduced to me , so I could once again know who they were.

I just shared my childhood story, in regard to the contest organized by galenkp@galenkp to participate, follow the link contest linkto learn of the rules.
