Weekend Event #184 (1).png

Introduction

I'm maintaining my weekly post for Gods Unchained. This weekend event #185 I tried an aggro light deck. I actually amended my deck one time and the latest amendment will be the deck I'm sharing. Anyways I will be sharing my thoughts on my deck and going through my performance.

My Deck & Analysis

I played an early aggro light deck. This is a pretty budget deck and I just tried it out for the purpose of choosing a new god to play every week. I actually bought a Thestor, Grieving General just to play this deck as it's a pretty solid card in early aggro light decks. I found the deck to be super weak if I had to go second in the beginning. You can find the link to the decklist here and if you're interested in seeing the previous version of this deck before this final amendment, you can check out my profile here.

1-2 mana
I have Blind Matyr, Dryader Sailweaver, Empyrean pacifist, Vexing Vicar and Vesper of Concession for turn one plays. Vesper of Concession was also good for relic removal that I faced since there were some war decks with relics and death decks with Necroscepter. They are the cards I'm looking to open the game with as well as hoping that I can go first so I can establish board control. Thaeric Extortionist is there to transform opponent strength 2 creatures and add it to my side so I can have more creatures on my side. Humble Benefactor and Felid Janissary's purpose was to buff my opening cards so I can use it to trade with the opponents cards. Inquisitor Informant was to control strong creatures or bypassing some frontline creatures. Mace of Calling was a relic for helping to clear opponent's creatures while adding another 2/2 to my board. Olympian Guard was my frontline card which could end up as a 3/4 if my opponent didn't clear it early enogh.

3-4 mana
Militant Theist was a card that can buff my cards or destroy cards like Armor Lurker which is pretty annoying with the 1 armor. Radiant Dawn was used to buff my board so I can trade better with my early game board pressure. Thestor, Grieving General was one of my mvp cards. This card could get buffed so much since I had so many 1 mana creatures which ultimately led me to victory for some of the battles since my opponent didn't have an answer to it. Imperious Smite was just to out any strong monster on the board that my monsters couldn't clear by trading. Protective Benediction was used to buff my early board. Normally I would choose to give armor and two health to all my 2 strength creatures. Sern, The Moderator was used for card draw as well as to heal my early game board that took trades with the opponent's creatures.

5-6 mana
Canonize was used to trade with some of the opponent's strong monsters or could be a good buff to hit face with which actually carried me for the win in one of the games. Asterius, Glittering one was my finishing card capping off my deck at 6 mana. This card would be the ultimate flip for victory if I had a decent board of 2 strength creatures and got this card out at 6 mana I was pretty much guaranteed the win.

My Performance

As you can see below, my performance was alright. I got 11 wins out of 18 battles. It got me 2 core rare, 2 core epic, 2 MJ rare and 1 MJ epic packs which I will be opening and sharing on Wednesday! At least I had over a 50% winrate this weekend and that might be because I started in Auric Gold so I suppose the competition is a bit easier. I actually dropped to Midnight Shadow in the middle of this weekend event because I lost quite a lot on the first two days. I usually try to do 4-5 battles each day over the weekend since the weekend event starts on Friday evening for me and ends on Monday evening. I did better though after amending the deck. Honestly, I think this deck is fairly ok in the meta if you can get the early board set up. I only faced problems against decks that could wipe the board like Magic or early game nature that had better trades since they have creatures with high base stats like Black Jaguar and Underbrush Boar to win the early board control. In conclusion, this was a viable deck and I think it can be played competitively but I don't think I played it that well since I'm not used to playing with light. That's all for me for this week. I think next week I will try a magic deck that aims for face or a control late game magic deck.
