Well, I mean I want to actually try again
I've been playing lately, but mostly in the Bronze league with quest potions. There's not much pressure, but the rewards were DECent compared to the price of the potions. It's a lot easier to win in the Bronze league than the Diamond and Champion leagues.
When there are different tiers for newer cards and older cards, I may have more of a shot. Part of my problem, I think, is that my deck lacks almost all of the cards from the Alpha/Beta and early rewards series. I sold all of those last year, like a fool.
More recently, I tried and failed for several seasons in a row to make it to the Champion League. After the last time, I decided I needed to take a break and started renting out nearly all of my cards. It was perfect timing, really.
New strategy
I am going to try playing some of my max-level cards again to see what happens. While I've been renting out nearly my entire collection, I've been upgrading my gold cards. My plan is to continue renting out a lot of the gold ones and play with the regular ones.
Wait, you say... "You'll miss out on DEC bonuses." You're right, but I also get so much more rent from the gold cards. Sometimes, it's the regular cards that feel pointless to rent out. Max level cards for less than 10 DEC a day. I could be playing with those. My "DEC bonus" will be that I make DEC for just having Gold cards and renting them out.
When I play my regular cards will I make more DEC than when I rented them? It's possible. I can't say for sure. I've had a few seasons off and am now ready to start all over again for a while. That's how I roll. Whenever I feel the need, I play the game and when I do not, I stop.
I just want to play, man.
No matter how profitable one thing is, it isn't always better than the other. If you factor in time, it is absolutely more profitable to simply rent out your cards and do other things. It might be worth it to see what you can earn if you are going to play anyway. There's an X factor that isn't there with renting. Rentals don't ever yield giant DEC chests or gold legendary cards. Those are exciting moments! They probably only appear a handful of times a decade, but that's part of the thrill.
In any case, I probably shouldn't join a guild.
Who knows how long I'll feel like playing for? I'm a ride-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kinda shark.
