I took these pics with my family as we were shopping at a major outdoor sporting goods store. We were able to get up close and take pictures of wolves. Along the way, we also learned quite a bit about wolves that we had not known before.
For example, we learned that wolves can live up to about 13 years old in the wild. Wolves in captivity live slightly longer, at about 16 years. Some wolves can sprint up to 36 miles per hour. The weight of an adult male can vary by species, but wolves can range from about 45 to 179 lbs. Some wolf packs can even travel up to 12 miles in a single day.
Another important fact is that all members of the pack help to raise the pups of the pack. A pack leader may lose this position, as the alpha wolf will be challenged by other members of the pack. If a alpha wolf loses the position, he may leave the pack to join another pack or will become a lone wolf.
