One of the things that most photographers are aware of is the position of the sun. One common mistake that I had made when I first started taking pics is to shoot with the sun facing the camera lens. The usual result when I shoot such a picture is having the subject hard to see. The camera lens would almost always make the light source (sun) very bright and any faces I was trying to capture was very dark. However, this evening I decided to take pics directly into the sun, as an experiment.
My thought was to point directly into the sun, but to use an object such as leaves to minimize the amount of light that flooded the lens. So, although I was technically pouting the camera in the direction of the sun, it’s effects would be minimized.
One of the benefits of this method was the occasional sun rays that would be captured sneaking past the leaves of the trees. Although this sometimes makes the entire picture a bit too orange, I find the sun rays to be a unique touch.
Thanks for visiting and I welcome any feedback regarding my experiment.
