As I've been engaging with the API, I've noticed some limitations and it gave me ideas on how Steemit can greatly improve.

1: Introduction For New Users

When someone is completely new to bitcoin, blockchain and steem, they are most likely confused by the platform and don't really understand it. All they most likely know is when they post, they'll earn once there's upvotes on their post.

Steemit could have a tour feature when a user signs in for the first time. On top of that, a video explanation on blockchain, steem, SBD and steem power.

2: Better Homepage

Currently the homepage only incorporates a call to action for non-users which is a good feature and the homepage can be maximized if it included the suggestions below:

  • Top 3 or 4 trending posts that contain images in tiles
  • Jumbotron displaying video about steemit for non-users
  • Choose theme

3: Distinguish Posts From Comments

We have to use tools such as my own (SteemTracked) or others just to see how many posts we've done instead of seeing it when we go to our Steemit profile page.

4: Undo Resteemed Post

Sometimes we repost something and want to undo it as we do for a like.

5: Recent Notifications

I would prefer recent notifications on the header than chrome/desktop notifications that don't record those that just followed or resteemed.

6: Direct Messages

Sometimes we would like to connect with a user on Steemit and the only way we can do it effectively is by engaging with them in the comments section of one of their posts.

7: Retrieve View Counter

I know there are views on Steemit posts, however for developers like me who could use that info to present the best engagement results. There really isn't an established way to retrieve it and I'm currently working on realistic ways to obtain it.

8: Pinned Posts

When users come to our pages, a post we can choose to always appear first would be an excellent feature. This feature would also provide a temporary solution for the inability to undo resteemed posts.
