Good day everyone. Good day teens. We already have a lot to worry about in our daily lives. We have to think about work, school, chores, family issues, friendship issues etc. So it is a bit unfair to be pressured into being conscious of our looks again. Sometimes it feels like everyone else is judging us. And even though you may love your best friend, you are also a bit jealous of her because she has the perfect skin and the nicest clothes.

Well, actually, there are two roads you can take. You can try very hard to look perfect but you have to know that that's a road which is lined with jealousy and unhappiness and honestly, leads nowhere. Then there's another road, one where every step is a love letter to yourself, and at the end of it, you will find yourself glowing with pride and confidence.

What steps should we take as teens to make sure we are heading in the right direction. Here are some tips and pointers that you can try for yourself. Good luck beautiful teens.

BE FRIENDS WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE
The people you spend time with have a major impact on how you view the world, yourself and your appearance. If you are around people who are very critical of their own bodies or other people's, your own body image may suffer. Choose friends who are positive, open minded and uplifting. Alternatively, if you have friends who are negative about their own appearance, try to be a positive role model to them. Show them that you love your body just the way it is, and soon they will too.

DON'T COMPARE YOURSELF WITH OTHERS
Usually we compare ourselves in a negative manner to others. That's because, as strange as it may seem, we tend to be harsher on ourselves than on other people. Don't waste your time wishing for your classmate's figure. She is probably wishing that she had a nose like yours! If we stop worrying about other people and try to be grateful for who we are and what we have, then the world would be a happier place to live.

FOCUS ON THE THINGS YOU LOVE MOST
Next time you are worrying about your appearance, think of something more substantial that you could be doing, like reading a book or catching up with a friend. Just do something that will make you happy.

TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT YOURSELF
Look at yourself in the mirror, clear your mind of any negative thoughts, and think of three things that you like about your appearance. Teen's bodies change quickly, so watch your body as it grows and change. Make sure to always notice the things you love about it. And, please, do remind yourself about them.

WHAT ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA?
It is very important to remember that on social media, people choose their best photos and use picture editing to perfect their photos. So the image of the person that you are comparing yourself to is not even real. If you find that you are regularly comparing your appearance to other people's, consider quitting social media for a while and see if you will feel better.
