Some FUD around the Bithumb hack, but keep your heads cold guys.
This is what we know:
- $30,000,000 in funds have been stolen
- Bithumb has said all losses will be compensated
- All assets have been moved to cold wallet
- Deposits/withdrawals have been halted
Generally, in Computer Sciences, only a very specific class of algorithms are considered "secure". Complex systems are never 100% secure and hacks is something we'll see happening from time to time.
What is important is that exchanges have procedures to diminish losses and compensate for the losses.
Personally, I wouldn't take the risk of shorting BTC at this point.
