Buenas mi querida comunidad de Movies&TvShow, el día de hoy les quise hablar acerca de una serie que vi hace poco en Netflix, la serie en cuestión se llama The Mist y está inspirada en el libro de Stephen King con el mismo nombre, pero a pesar de que la serie de cierta forma tiene como base este libro nos cuenta una historia completamente diferente a la que nos cuenta el famoso escritor. En esta serie nos encontramos tres historias que en algún momento se unen, la primera es la de un soldado que un día despierta en el bosque junto a un perro sin saber nada acerca de sí mismo; la segunda es acerca de una adicta que vuelve a casa para darse cuenta de que su madre ha fallecido y la tercera es sobre una familia qué pasa por una tragedia cuando cuando su hija es violada por alguien en una fiesta. De cierta forma todas estas historias se unen en el momento que llega la niebla dado que por azares del destino el padre de la familia termina atrapado en la estación de policía junto con el militar, la ex adicta y el mejor amigo de su hija, entre todos conforman un grupo para poder llegar hasta el centro comercial qué es donde se encuentra a su hija junto con la madre y otras personas que quedaron atrapadas allí en el momento en que la niebla pareció.

Algo que me gustó mucho de esta serie es que nos cuentan otra perspectiva acerca de lo que está sucediendo, en el libro los personajes principales quedan atrapados en una tienda de comestibles y todo el libro transcurre dentro de la misma tienda, sin embargo aquí podemos ver otras facetas y situaciones que pudieron haber ocurrido en paralelo a esa historia original, cómo es el padre tratando de llegar hasta dónde está su familia y su familia sobreviviendo dentro del centro comercial junto a otras personas incluido el primer sospechoso de la violación de su hija. A medida que va avanzando la serie también vemos otra historia paralela qué ocurre dentro de una iglesia donde vemos el enfrentamiento entre la moral religiosa y la naturaleza.

Sí son amantes de los libros como yo sabrá que cuando sale una adaptación cinematográfica siempre estamos con la esperanza de que sea lo más fiel posible a lo que leímos, un el claro ejemplo de un éxito de esto podría ser Orgullo y Prejuicio que a pesar de que no es fiel al libro tiene lo suficiente del mismo como para que podamos sentirnos satisfechos, con lo que vi en esta serie sin embargo a pesar de que no tienen nada que ver con el libro creo que puede hacernos sentir satisfechos de cierta forma con lo que está ocurriendo, porque nos muestran un ámbito totalmente diferente pero no por eso menos realista de lo que pueda estar ocurriendo. Nos presenta personajes y situaciones que si bien no son canónicos no por eso es tan mal, incluso nos ayuda a entender un poco mejor lo que está ocurriendo en el mundo dado que no solamente nos centramos en un solo lugar con uno solo grupo de personajes sino que podemos ver distintos escenarios con distintos personajes y cómo estos afrontan este misterio que está ocurriendo.

Otro plus que tiene la serie es además del misterio que rodea la niebla, son los distintos dilemas que van pasando a medida que la historia transcurre, como por ejemplo la violación de la hija de la familia y el posible culpable de la misma, también el misterio que rodea al militar que no se recuerda nada sobre sí mismo, también nos presenta ciertas situaciones que no siempre vemos en los libros acerca de apocalipsis como por ejemplo el colapso del sistema de salud o cómo llega el momento donde la comida se empieza acabar y también la convivencia de las personas en estos escenarios de alta tensión y cómo afrontan los diferentes problemas que puedan ocurrir, como por ejemplo cuando alguien hace algo que puede poner en peligro a los demás de cierta forma y todos deben decidir si qué hacer con esa persona.

Si tuviera que decir algo malo de esta serie definitivamente sería el hecho de que fue cancelada luego de la primera temporada, entonces a pesar de que nos han resolución a varios de los dilemas que nuestros personajes afrontan también nos presentan misterios que nunca van a tener respuesta, lo que es una verdadera lástima dado que sinceramente creo que tenía bastante potencial para llegar a ser una gran serie, sin embargo a pesar de eso creo que igual deberíamos darle la oportunidad porque en su primera temporada definitivamente te atrapa y a pesar de que el mayor misterio que es de dónde vino la niebla nunca se resuelve al igual que en el libro hay otros pequeños problemas a los que si se les consigue solución. Sin más que decir espero que les haya gustado mi pequeño resumen y que le den una oportunidad a esta serie y quién sabe quizás sí muchos de nosotros volvemos a verla Netflix reconsidere hacer una segunda temporada donde los resuelvan por lo menos algunos de los dilemas que quedaron sin respuesta en la primera.

Good morning my dear Movies&TvShow community, today I wanted to talk about a series that I recently saw on Netflix, the series in question is called The Mist and is inspired by the book by Stephen King with the same name, but although the series in some ways is based on this book tells a completely different story to the one told by the famous writer. In this series we find three stories that at some point come together, the first is about a soldier who one day wakes up in the woods next to a dog without knowing anything about himself; the second is about an addict who returns home to realize that her mother has died and the third is about a family that goes through a tragedy when their daughter is raped by someone at a party. In a way all these stories come together at the moment when the fog arrives because by chance the father of the family ends up trapped in the police station along with the military man, the former addict, and his daughter's best friend, together they form a group to get to the mall where his daughter is found along with the mother and other people who were trapped there at the moment when the fog appeared.

Something I liked about this series is that we are told another perspective about what is happening, in the book the main characters are trapped in a grocery store and the whole book takes place inside the same store, however here we can see other facets and situations that could have happened in parallel to that original story, how is the father trying to get to where his family is and his family surviving inside the mall with other people including the first suspect of the rape of his daughter. As the series progresses we also see another parallel story that occurs inside a church where we see the confrontation between religious morality and nature.

If you are book lovers like me you will know that when a movie adaptation comes out we are always hoping that it will be as faithful as possible to what we read, a clear example of a success of this could be Pride and Prejudice that even though it is not faithful to the book it has enough of it to make us feel satisfied, with what I saw in this series however even though they have nothing to do with the book I think it can make us feel satisfied in a way with what is happening because they show us a different but no less realistic scope of what may be happening. It presents us with characters and situations that although they are not canonical, that is not so bad, it even helps us to understand a little better what is happening in the world since we do not only focus on a single place with a single group of characters but we can see different scenarios with different characters and how they face this mystery that is happening.

Another plus that the series has, besides the mystery surrounding the fog, is the different dilemmas that are happening as the story unfolds, such as the rape of the daughter of the family and the possible culprit, also the mystery surrounding the military man who does not remember anything about himself, it also presents us with certain situations that we do not always see in books about apocalypses such as the collapse of the health system or how the time comes when the food starts to run out and also the coexistence of people in these scenarios of high tension and how they face the different problems that may occur, such as when someone does something that can endanger others in a certain way and everyone must decide what to do with that person.

If I had to say something bad about this series it would be the fact that it was canceled after the first season, so even though we have a resolution to several of the dilemmas that our characters face we are also presented with mysteries that will never be answered, which is a real shame since I sincerely believe that it had enough potential to become a great series, however despite that I think we should still give it a chance because in its first season it grabs you and although the biggest mystery which is where the fog came from is never solved as in the book other small problems are solved. Without more to say I hope you liked my little summary and that you give this series a chance who knows maybe if many of us come back to see it Netflix will reconsider making a second season where they solve at least some of the dilemmas that were left unanswered in the first.
