Entitlement.
In education, we deal with different issues daily. Every issue with its own challenge from suicide to just plain rudeness. The worst part is that in most cases kids feel they are entitled to behave that way because their parents allow that behaviour. It is important to teach your child about values and what is right or wrong.
The way we behave as parents are the way our children will behave. Today we dealt with a case where a parent let their child drove the car to school without a learners driving licences or licences. When we spoke to the mom because we are concerned about the child if caught or involved in an accident, she asked us in front of the child are we teachers or police. That same child has been a discipline problem for the last year and now we know why. That child's mom gave the child a sense of entitlement that is why the child behaves the way he or she wants.
Parents should not speak negatively about the child's teachers in front of the child because it also increases entitlement under children.
Entitlement became a big discipline problem, children think they have the right to do what they want and there is nothing wrong with their behaviour. They know their parents will come up for them no matter if they are wrong.
Parents you are not helping and are not raising responsible children.
