LOG_003 : THE CEX TRAP: Leaving assets on centralized exchanges is financial suicide.
[IN LEO COMMUNITY - PART 3 OF THE CRYPTO FINANCIAL INTELLIGENCE SERIES]
"Not your keys, not your crypto." It鈥檚 the oldest rule in Web3. Yet, millions of people still leave their hard-earned life savings sitting on Centralized Exchanges (CEXs). Big mistake. Leaving your funds there is a complete joke if you actually care about financial freedom.
When you deposit crypto into an exchange, you don't own it. The exchange does. What you see on your mobile screen is just a digital IOU. A cheap promise that they will give your money back when you ask.
History proves that when a real economic crisis hits, those promises vanish. CEXs operate exactly like fractional reserve banks. They take your crypto and gamble it in high-risk investment schemes. If the market panics and everyone tries to withdraw at the same time, the exchange runs out of cash, freezes the withdrawal button, and files for bankruptcy.
Worse, CEXs are financial informants. The moment you upload your ID for KYC, your balances and transaction destinations are indexed. They hand this data over to any regulatory agency that asks for it. Your account can be frozen in seconds by an automated algorithm false positive.
The escape route? Get your assets off the exchanges. Move them to self-custodial software or hardware wallets. Secure your seed phrases offline on paper or steel. If you don't control the cryptographic keys, you're just renting your money from a digital middleman.
