It makes me very happy to see games like this one that mix that pixel art style with unusual genres, because the result is usually quite interesting. In this case, Lametum tells us a horror story full of tragedy and mystery that will make us feel strange as we go into it. The story revolves around our wife, who unfortunately suffers from a strange terminal illness that gradually weakens her. At a certain point, after spending months with different doctors and applying hundreds of medications, we begin to notice that her health continues to worsen and, desperate to save her, we decide to take her to the mansion of a count who has the reputation of "working miracles".
However, after arriving at the mansion strange things start to happen, we will faint and wake up wounded in bed covered in blood and with our wife missing, the mansion is full of strange creatures, corpses, excrement, demonic symbology and we do not know what is happening.
The game has a gameplay that, although it may seem curious, is the classic in horror games like Silent Hill, Visage, Outlast, among others. The only difference is that instead of being in 3D, here you will experience everything in 2D, but otherwise it is exactly the same; You will have your inventory of objects that you find, you can save the game only in certain areas, you must solve puzzles to advance and all that. However, the fact that the game has a 2D style does not mean that it does not manage to create that gloomy atmosphere, on the contrary, it manages to create it in an excellent way with the scenarios and the sound environment that, many times it will be important to pay attention to decipher certain things, such as entering a room and hearing a girl crying hidden in the walls of the walls.
As you explore little by little you will encounter different enemies, however, if you didn't investigate well before encountering these strange beings and managed to find something to defend yourself, you will most likely have to avoid them, because to die you will only need a few hits. Also, every time we get close to these monsters, our heart will speed up and we will get tired faster, which will prevent us from being able to run constantly.
Something curious is that the game really wants you to explore and figure things out on your own, there are no tutorials and there are very few help messages, it will simply throw you into its world and let you survive on your own. Maybe that object you found in a corner will help you open a door, but that's for you to think about, the game won't tell you anything, and this makes for good and bad, it creates a difficulty according to each person and a feeling of mystery as you play it.
Many times you will have to retrace your steps in order to advance; there are blocked areas that you won't be able to open until you complete or find something, actions that you couldn't carry out but after a bit of research you got that key piece of information and now you have to go back and try again. All of this is very present, which many may like and many others may dislike.
To finish, it is important to clarify that it is a slow game, very slow, with a lot of drama and suspense in between. Do not expect to go killing monsters left and right, most of the time you will have to spend thinking about how to access the next area while you avoid being killed, it is important to have this clear when playing it.
