The way you think about your work can improve your mood and make you a better worker.

But what about your coworkers?

Is there something you can do to increase the likelihood of their happiness at work?

A previous article highlighted ways we can make ourselves happier at work. Now, we will look at...

Some Ways to Help your Colleagues Feel Happier at Work

1. Be Appreciative. It's easier to have cordial relations with your coworkers if you decide to like them. Find something you appreciate and like about each coworker and focus on that quality when you interact with them.

2. Be Compassionate. The people you find difficult may need the most kindness. Imagine yourself in the other person's position during a conflict to understand where they're coming from.

3. Be Generous with Praise. Observe the good qualities and skills that your colleagues possess. Let them know that you really value their strengths and contributions.

4. Be Helpful. Pitch in when your coworkers ask for help. Pay attention and notice when someone has extra work so you can volunteer without even being asked.

5. Be Hospitable. Specifically, bringing food will instantly enhance your popularity and cheer people up. Bring a bag of bagels or other fresh-baked treats. Donate a tin of cocoa or a special tea to the office kitchen.
