The Diary Game:[29/09/2026] Three Days, Many Challenges: My Unexpected Work Experience
It was on Monday that we started the work in Uyo. Early that morning, I went to my boss’s place, loaded the paint, and got ready to leave. We were using two bikes—my boss was riding one while I rode the other. On our way to Uyo, the bike I was riding developed a chain problem, so we had to stop and check it. Luckily, it was only a minor issue, and after fixing it, we continued our journey.
When we arrived, we opened the gate and went inside. We carried the paint into the two-bedroom flat and started preparing for the work. Our first challenge was figuring out what we could use to stand on so we could reach the higher parts of the walls during the cutting,Then we discovered another problem. The type of paint that had already been used on the walls was acrylic paint, while we came with emulsion. It was a difficult combination, and the paint was not drying as quickly as we expected.
My boss started the work, and everything seemed to be going smoothly at first. But as time went on, the challenges started coming. The walls were taking hours to dry. Normally, if we were using acrylic paint, we could have finished the work in less than a day. But because we were using emulsion, the work took us three days. We left on Monday morning and finally returned home on Wednesday evening,during those three days, we faced one challenge after another. Some of our supplies finished, and we had not planned to stay overnight. Unfortunately, my boss told me and my colleague that we had to stay until the work was completed. We had no other option, so we followed the instruction.
There were also some minor challenges, like mosquito bites and not having enough clothes to change after bathing. Honestly, I was not happy about staying there because I had left the comfort of my home for a place where I never expected to spend the night. But my main goal was to finish the work and return home. At first, we painted the walls off-white, but the color was not showing properly. We then tried chocolate, but we still had the same problem. Finally, my boss decided to change the colors to green and yellow, and that made the work much easier.
In the end, despite all the challenges, we successfully completed the work. I was really happy to finally return home on Wednesday. It was not an easy experience, but it taught me that sometimes work can come with unexpected challenges, and the important thing is to stay patient and complete what you started. That was my three-day experience at the work site in Uyo.
