Covid-19 will make us all aware of the mistakes we made in our previous lives.

These are just some of the most popular phrases we hear on TV, read in the papers, comment on socials.
Almost the whole world agrees that this catastrophe will make us better people, make the world a better place.
The argument is that the global lockdown has confronted us with the contradictions of our society.
Many are under the illusion that the lockdown will bring an end to capitalism.
Many delude themselves that the economy will replace finance.
Many are convinced that smart working will become the rule.
Many believe that traffic will no longer exist.
Many hope that pollution will cease to exist.
A positive vision supported by facts and evidence but which clashes with a factual truth that has been repeating itself for centuries:

The human being does not change

The man in power becomes greedy, selfish.
The greedy and selfish man aspires to power more than anything else.
When the coronavirus ends we will have 1-2 years different from usual.
Governments will invest in public health.
We'll hear about smart working.
Mobility will change.
Scientists will tell us how good covid-19 has done for our atmosphere, our planet.
World governments will try to impose a more virtuous economy.
Finance will fall vertically in the first few months.

A few years will pass, 2 at the most, and then everyone will forget how much covid-19 could have been an opportunity for positive change.

Multinationals will find themselves richer.
Amazon will have gained enormous power, driving dozens of other corporations.
Bank and finance will have turned the tide.
Wall Street will have started writing new rules to regain financial control of the world.
China and the United States will be back at war.
The Trumps, the Boris Johnsons, the Matteo Salvini of this world will return to convince the people that the enemy is near. The enemy is the immigrant fleeing the war, the enemy is the State next to you, it is the party opposite to yours.
Tens of millions of people will have lost their jobs.
Unemployment will rise.
Social anger will increase.
Inequality will increase.
The most unscrupulous politicians will ride that anger.

I believe that covid-19 can be an opportunity for positive change.
I believe that there is a lot of data and statistics that help us understand that we must stop, we must change the western economic model.
Revolutionize it.
I believe that we need to shift the focus to issues other than those that have been central until now.
I would start with one and only one revolution:
Reduction of working hours.
30 hours of work per week at most, without reduction in salary.

Only in this way will we guarantee employment. That's the only way to stop the social anger that will rise in the coming months.
That's the only way to reduce inequality.
It's the only way to give strength and dignity to work and our free time.
It's the only way to reduce the pace, but not production.

I'd start here.
That's the only way we'll be ready for a Brave New World when the coronavirus wears off.

But I'm afraid I'm skeptical.
I don't think that can happen.
