We all know it, few of us really know it.

is the one that parents have been asking for 4 years for a son tortured and murdered in Egypt without there ever having been an investigation to verify the why of that violent crime and without apparent reason.
Who was behind it?
Who were the perpetrators?
How involved is the Egyptian government? How much does the Italian government know?
Was there an exchange of personnel?
Was Giulio Regeni involved in something or was he the victim of a situation that was too cloudy and out of his control and out of his will?
A truth that is late in coming because the Egyptian government is hostile, doesn't want to investigate, doesn't want to deepen.
The Italian government, and the Italian institutions in general, have always shown willingness and interest in order for the truth to emerge. There has always been emotion towards the family and outrage towards the Egyptian government.
It seemed that sooner or later something could unblock and instead it didn't.
The years go by and the truth is always further and further away.
And here comes the mockery, as in the most classic of Italian detective stories.

But dealing with an undemocratic government, which refuses to share information and start investigations on one of our fellow citizens killed on Egyptian soil, can be our trading partner?

To each and every one, and to his conscience the difficult sentence but it is offensive to celebrate a renewed alliance when 2 parents await justice for their child.
When another one of our fellow citizens, Zaki, has been locked up in their prisons for 4 months without any news from us.
This is not something to be tolerated, not something to be treated lightly.
The government must back down, must demand the truth.

He could be your son or brother or husband or boyfriend.
It could have been him who never came back.
That's why the truth must be sought at all costs.

Tutti lo conosciamo, in pochi lo conosciamo davvero.

Verità per Giulio

è quella che da 4 anni i genitori chiedono per un figlio torturato e ammazzato in Egitto senza che ci fosse mai stata un'indagine per verificarne i perchè di quel delitto cosi violento e senza apparente motivo.
Chi furono i mandanti?
Chi furono gli esecutori?
Quanto è invischiato il governo egiziano? Quanto ne sa il governo Italiano?
Ci fù uno scambio di persona?
Giulio Regeni era coinvolto in qualcosa o è stato vittima di una situazione troppo torbida e fuori dal suo controllo e dalla sua volontà?
Una verità che tarda ad arrivare perchè il governo egiziano è ostile, non vuole indagare, non vuole approfondire.
Il governo italiano, ed in generale le istituzioni italiane hanno sempre mostrato disponibilità e interesse affinchè la verità emergesse. C'è sempre stata emozione verso la famiglia e sdegno verso il governo egiziano.
Sembrava che qualcosa prima o poi potesse sbloccarsi ed invece no.
Gli anni passano e la verità è sempre più lontana.
Ed ecco che, come nel più classico dei gialli italiani, arriva la beffa.
Fincantieri venderà 2 navi da guerra all'Egitto, per una commessa monstre.
La notizia è stata annunciata dal governo stesso, trattandosi di un disgelo diplomatico e di un riavvio di importanti intrecci commerciali.

Ma trattare con un governo non proprio democratico, che si rifiuta di condividere informazioni e avviare indagini su un nostro concittadino ucciso sul suolo egiziano, può essere un nostro partner commerciale?

Ad ognuno, e alla propria coscienza l'ardua sentenza ma è offensivo celebrare una rinnovata alleanza quando 2 genitori attendono giustizia per il loro figlio.
Quando un altro nostro concittadino, Zaki, è da 4 mesi recluso nelle loro prigioni senza alcuna notiza da parte nostra.
Non è tollerabile, non è qualcosa da trattare con leggerezza.
Il governo deve fare marcia indietro, deve pretendere la verità.
Giulio sei tu.
Giulio sono io.
Giulio siamo noi.
Poteva essere un vostro figlio o fratello o marito o fidanzato.
Poteva essere lui a non tornare più.
Ecco perchè la verità va cercata ad ogni costo.
Nessuna fregata, nessuna nave da guerra potrà fermare un popolo alla ricerca della verità.
