Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.

In quelle 2 occasioni si era peccato di scarsa originalità, ragionando per eccessi, per effetti wow e strizzatine d'occhio, abbandonando quasi totalmente la caratterizzazione dei personaggi e la loro eccezionalità.
Con Andor appare chiaro l'intento di esplorare un lato dell'universo espanso molto più di nicchia, molto più cupo, fatto di un eroismo meno chiassoso e palese, composto da personaggi che ben si presterebbero a guerre o battaglie che viviamo anche oggi sul nostro pianeta Terra ferito e spaventato.
I primi 3 episodi, rilasciati in contemporanea il 21 Settembre, che sensazioni avranno lasciato?

Aver messo a disposizione, subito, 3 episodi contemporaneamente, rispetto ai 12 totali è segno di una forza ed una debolezza che accompagneranno l'intera recensione che state leggendo.
Dei 3 episodi, infatti, uno risulta totalmente inutile. Sto parlando del secondo. E' vuoto, non aggiunge nulla, ha un ritmo compassato e non regala neppure un momento degno di nota. Allo stesso tempo, però, la fruizione di un trittico anzichè del solo pilot ci ha consentito di capire, fino in fondo, di che pasta sia fatto questo show.
Pregi e difetti, insomma. Facce soddisfatte alternate a facce disperate.
Il titolo di questo post credo riassuma benissimo il mio stato d'animo, riflesso anche in queste iniziali parole che avete letto poco fa.
Andor mi lascia con quella perplessità alla cui base c'è però un pensiero positivo. Mi sembra lontana dalla ridondante "trovata" Bobafettiana, fortunatamente meno pigra di Kenobi ma anche piuttosto distante dai fasti di The Mandalorian.
Quello che Andor sembra suggerire è un racconto dal basso e, dunque, molto più "sporco", ruvido e intrigante.
La stessa scelta di puntare su personaggi nati e cresciuti nel sottobosco della mitologia partorita mezzo secolo fa da George Lucas e introdotti con Rogue One, è sembrata una scelta atta a catturare una fetta di pubblico più adulta e consapevole e ben disposta a fronteggiare un materiale meno semplice e tutto da costruire.

As usual, today I am bringing you inside a new Preview of an article that in a few days or weeks you will see In the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for the past few months, I have decided to constantly give you, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see on www.serialfiller.org.

Is your favorite movie in the Star Wars saga Rogue One?

Have you subscribed to Disney Plus just to follow everything possible with respect to the saga itself?

Do you like the "underdogs"?

With Andor, Disney Plus seems to have wanted to send a clear message to its subscribers, especially those who live on bread and Star Wars. It is possible to expand a universe as boundless as the one in which the series is embedded without, of necessity, focusing on lofty characters as, for example, was the case with Boba Fett first and Obi Wan Kenobi later.
It is no coincidence, in my opinion, that the 2 worst representations of the serial universe that landed on the Disney Plus streaming platform are precisely The Book of Boba Fett (review here) and Kenobi (final review here).
On those 2 occasions there had been a sin of lack of originality, reasoning by excess, wow effects and winks, almost totally abandoning the characterization of the characters and their exceptionalism.
With Andor, the intent to explore a much more niche, much darker side of the expanded universe, made up of less loud and overt heroism, composed of characters who would lend themselves well to the wars or battles we experience even today on our wounded and frightened planet Earth, seems clear.
The first 3 episodes, released simultaneously on September 21, what feelings will they have left?

To have made available, right away, 3 episodes at the same time, compared to the total 12 is a sign of a strength and a weakness that will accompany the entire review you are reading.
Of the 3 episodes, in fact, one turns out to be totally unnecessary. I am talking about the second one. It is empty, adds nothing, has a compassed pace, and does not even give a noteworthy moment. At the same time, however, the enjoyment of a triptych instead of just the pilot allowed us to understand, through and through, what this show is made of.
Pros and cons, in short. Satisfied faces alternating with desperate faces.
The title of this post I think sums up very well my state of mind, also reflected in these initial words you read just now.
Andor leaves me with that perplexity underlying which, however, is a positive thought. It seems to me far from the redundant Bobafettian "gimmick," thankfully less lazy than Kenobi but also quite far from the splendor of The Mandalorian.
What Andor seems to suggest is a bottom-up and, therefore, much "dirtier," rougher and more intriguing tale.
The same choice to focus on characters born and raised in the undergrowth of the mythology birthed half a century ago by George Lucas and introduced with Rogue One, seemed an apt choice to capture a more adult and aware slice of the audience and well prepared to cope with a less simple and all-building material.
