Which Lens Should I Bring?

I keep overpacking camera bags, so this one caught my eye. Which Lens Should I Bring is a free simulator that shows you what your shot will look like before you leave the house. You dial in an F value, a focal length, how far away your subject is, and how tall they are, and it draws the frame with a little person silhouette standing in it.

The defaults it opens with are F2.8, a 50mm lens, subject 2 meters away and 160 cm tall, on a 35mm full frame sensor. With those it tells you the shooting range is 1.44 by 0.96 meters, the angle of view is 39.6 degrees, and the in-focus range runs from 1.88 to 2.13 meters. That last bit is new in version 1.1.0, it shows depth of field when you type in an F value.

It is a small thing, 10.2 MB on iOS, and it does not collect any data. There are iOS and Android versions plus a web app you can just open in a browser, which is how I tried it. If you shoot events or travel and you are tired of carrying three lenses you never use, this is worth a look.
