I think it’s a lot more nuanced. Since America has a lot of power, I imagine they could use advertising power and other resource to crush local competition and destroy local economies so I imagine that’s one reason tariffs on US are so high. Of course corruption and backscratching for individuals is highly likely in some cases.

Trump is effectively chemotherapy on a cancer patient. He is killing the cancer but also the patient. I think a lot of his policies would be pretty decent if turned to 30-40% and done with a little more honestly and good will.
