What if there was a government issues stablecoin pegged to a basket of hard assets like bitcoin, gold, real estate, etc?
Would this be considered a CDBC? Would it be a bad thing? What if we weren’t required to use it but it was mainly used as a new standard markets, more inflationary than bitcoin but much less than USD?
For me the only issue with a CDBC is potential legal requirement for us to use it. And I worry that that stipulation could come later after we accept it as commonplace. If we could legally use cash, bitcoin or even privacy coins, I don’t have an issue. The more choices the better.
