one of the tricks of inflation is that when the economy is doing well, you don’t see it. It doesn’t impact goods as much as it does assets like housing, and so we say the economy is booming when the stock market is doing well, when really fundamentally, the currency is still being debased, even when the economy is doing well.

Then things go south and the inflation starts to hit daily goods and people notice it.
