Here's a bold prediction. There will not be vehicles without steering steering wheels for the next 15. The reason is that there is too much liability, cost, and reputation at stake to have a machine be completely responsible for all actions of a vehicle. We have barely self-driving vehicles that reach Level 3 and it will take a large engineering effort to get to Level 4.
