There's a huge difference between reading it on paper and watching the story unfold on a screen.
Mixed reactions on how a viewer would imagine the characters based on what he or she reads about them and how the director would employ actors to portray such characters.
Normally, when I've read a book, I tend to shy away from the movie so I won't get my first experience of the story overridden by a second.
Although today, either by sheer peer pressure or inhumane boredom, I started a series I've already read, and to be honest, I was quite impressed.
Gods, goddesses, demigods and monsters are real, the whole ancient Greek magical world is covered by the mist, a curtain which distracts regular humans from the magical happenings around them.
Percy is a 12 year old boy, who throughout his childhood has been able to see through the mist, now just discovering he's part of that greek magical world, a demigod and a powerful one at that.
He has been given a quest, return the stolen master bolt, and save the world from a war between the two mightiest gods.
There was an earlier Percy Jackson movie which totally ruined it for me and plenty others. The first movie, although being released just after the success of the book was an eyesore to watch.
So many improvisations with the characters, the monsters and the stories that it didn't even seem like the book it was trying to emulate anymore.
Regardless, this one was a bit better, and a lot easier to swallow and keep down as a viewer who has read the book.
I'm a stickler for details at times when watching movies, but there are instances when I'll let it go, and those are rare chances.
Regardless, this is one of those chances.
The characters were great, they actually looked like 12 year olds instead of 18 year old teenagers acting 12, and they played their parts well.
The only difference is in the actress of Annabeth who was portrayed as a blonde in the book but here has hair as black as coal.
But meh... You can't have everything thing 馃槀馃槀...
All in all, every other major character was portrayed well, including Mr D or Dionysus who was just as obnoxious and annoyingly rude as one would picture him in their heads馃槀馃挄.
This particular series, although fast paced stuck pretty close to the books main plot and that was just beautiful for me to see.
I immediately recognized instances that I had imagined when reading the book being played out with the help of CGI and I was grateful.
Now this is something I've noticed that's all in the rage for movies coming from Disney these days, this and the raging LGBTQ movement.
The idea that all races should be in a production is both wrong and well in my view racist.
For why would someone who was portrayed as a white blond American female look like someone out of Blackish?
Of course Riordan put out a statement that Annabeth being black portrays the true spirit he had for her in the books...
Total paid off rubbish to me...
If she was meant to be black in the books, she would have been described to be black like how Charles Beckendorf and Hazel Levesque were.
Regardless what's done is done and the series still rocked.
It was just something that really annoyed me at first.
This Percy Jackson Series was a lot of fun to watch, despite it's new looks and annoying changes, it's the same story that viewers read and loved.
A stunning 7 out of 10 stars from me.

Hubo una pel铆cula anterior de Percy Jackson que me arruin贸 por completo a m铆 y a muchos otros. La primera pel铆cula, aunque se estren贸 justo despu茅s del 茅xito del libro, fue una monstruosidad de ver.
