Today I took our car back to the BMW dealership, because after they replaced the main battery all of a sudden we started getting messages about power and our tire pressure monitoring system has started loosing connection the next day after battery replacement.
Coincidence? I don't think so... So at eight thirty in the morning I dropped off the car telling them that their third attempt at fixing the main issue has once again been unsuccessful. The car is still making weird noise after it warms up and is between 1200 and 1600 rpm. And now after the battery was replaced it has these messages:
So the first time I left the car with them they found a stick stuck in the wheel that was supposedly making the noise. The second attempt resulted in them making the differential fluid change. The third time their foreman thought that the original battery is responsible for the noise as it was making the alternator work extra hard.
None of these theories are accurate it appears as the car still has the same noise. So I left the car overnight and picked up a brand new X1 loaner vehicle with four thousand miles on it. It has a nice entertainment system and electronics, but does drive like X5. It jerks around and sound insulation is very poor.
But I get the car to drive back home and that was very convenient. We will see if this time they find the real issue...
The error messages were supposedly caused by a loose connection to the auxiliary battery. Not sure I buy that as the battery they replaced was in the rear trunk and the other battery is under the hood in front in a hard to access place.
They said that it might have happened when they replaced the starter during the second time that it was replaced under the recall. But then why the messages started appearing the next day main battery was replaced?
Well at least all this walking around resulted in over twenty thousand steps plus I got a pretty good workout in and accomplished a lot at work
