Today I would like to share a Modern Champion battle featuring one of the most powerful Rebellion Summoners: Cryptic. This particular strategy has a few variations, but the battle I would like to share today showcases one of the most effective lineups using Cryptic summoner.
The strategy for this battle revolves around the speed and making your tank almost un-hittable.
First we obviously have our Summoner Cryptic that nerfs the speed of our opponent cards by one and also makes them blind which further increases the chance that our opponent is going to miss. Cryptic also lets you select from Retaliate and Enfeeble and Poison and Expose abilities, I like Poison and Expose more because our tank already has Enfeeble ability.
Next we have our most important card of this lineup: Commander Slade. This rare Rebellion reward card is the key to this whole play. The base stats of this card are already impressive: six speed, seven shield, ten health points, five melee damage. But it is the abilities that are even more impressive. Here we have Enfeeble, Dodge that gives a 25% chance to evade physical attacks, Deflect and Backfire which deals our opponent damage back when they miss.
All this card is missing is ability to avoid magic attackers and that is where our next key card of this lineup comes up: Jicarilla the Rime
Jicarilla the Rime is a legendary card that does the most to keep our Commander Slade tank in the game. She has a Tank Heal ability to heal our tank when it is hit and she gives our tank ability to avoid magic attacks using her Phase Ward ability that gives Commander Slade Phase ability at the start of the battle.
Jicarilla is also important for keeping the rest of our lineup alive because she has a rare Cleanse Rear Guard where she cleanses from poison and other afflictions our rear monsters and because she also has a Echo ability her Cleanse Rearguard ability fires twice in each round allowing her to cleans two monsters on our team per round.
Next I like to play a trio of the following cards: Yaba's Pickle, Daarg Deablast and Daigendark Surveyor.
Daarg Deablast is key here because he is able to weapons train the other two awesome support monsters and also speeds up the whole team as well as triage heals the backline monsters if they are hit. Daigendark Surveyour has magic reflect, slow and stun abilities and Yaba's Pickle has self heal, slow, shield and evade abilities making it a very useful monster to put in front of the Daarg Deadblast.
And in the last position I like to play Endura Brune when I have enough mana like in this battle. Endura Brune speeds up the whole team as well as nerfs magic and ranged attackers. This monster had decent speed of four and nice ten point health as well as two shield.
So as you can see the whole strategy evolves around making our tank un-hittable by slowing down the opponent, speeding up our team as well as keeping the tank and other support monsters in the game as much as possible. Now let's see this strategy against @yabapmatt.sps, it is actually fitting that a lineup that features his card defeats the former CEO of Splinterlands :)
Please see the link to the battle above
As you can see Yabapmatt came in with a very meta browser and the latest fully maxed out cards including Tenrai. Let's see how these latest cards fare against my classic lineup.
In the first round my opponent couldn't land a single hit on my main tank.
In the second round it was exactly the same story and Yaba looks really in trouble here as we took down half of his team without loosing a single monster!
And in round five without loosing a single monster we take a very convincing victory against a strong opponent in Modern Champion One!
In conclusion I would like to say that this older strategy featuring some of the oldest cards in Modern still works in Modern Champion One!
