Hail to the Hive!

Waking up today to a frosty morning and realising that we are still trapped behind padlocked canal locks was ever so slightly annoying as we need supplies.

Now I had hoped that the Canal and River Trust were going to remove the padlocks as they had stated but ,alas this has not happened so I must walk from Warwick to Leamington Spa, purchase a 10kg sack of briquettes and lug it back to the boat so we can stay warm as the temperature has dropped quite a bit.

I don’t mind the walk itself, as it’s an extremely pleasant environment to wander through, but the lugging heavy sacks of fuel to burn I am not a huge fan of.

But the crisp fresh air and splendid sights is a real tonic and assisting in the clearing of my extremely foggy brain this morning.

Much beer was consumed last night as myself and millycf1976@millycf1976 were celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary at the canalside pub oppsite where we have the boat moored. So it’s not such a bad thing to take a long stroll on this Odins day to clear the cobwebs from my head.

The other nice thing about walking along the canal is that it’s all flat. No hills. This man made waterway constructed so long ago has become quite the popular dog walking, cycling and jogging place for many to enjoy and in my case today, hangover clearing.

It’s also an extremely calm and peaceful environment which is also good for my fragile head this morning.

The last thing I need is noise right now. Carrying the heavy load soon will be more than enough so I am soaking in the pleasant sights on the walk to the shop as on the way back I doubt I’ll be taking them in for enjoyment as I will want to get back as quickly as possible.

Then back inside the warm and toasty boat and glug down some freshly brewed coffee. Not such a bad morning really
