as the staff all have the day off today I have the dive shop to myself. I will have instructor Phil in and out today but he will be using my classroom upstairs as a space to do his Teaching English online so i won't be totally alone all day.
Usually in the dive shop I have my usual perch in the corner of the bar from which i can pretty much see everything, which is why I sit there. I can see all divers setting up arriving, boarding the boat, instructors teaching classes etc and I have my phone hooked up to the CCTV so i can view the reception area and see people coming. It's important to have a good vantage point so as to see propblems early and intervene or better still to see what is about to happen and prevent it.
However when the shop is empty I choose the "sleepy bench" as it looks outward towards the sea and anyone arriving will be on my immediate right as they enter. Its the perfect vantage point when not busy. It's also pretty relaxing.
I have always been like this. When in bars my preference is to be where I can see everything, the same in restaurants. @millycf1976 and I prefer to sit in restaurants side by side, share food and survey all before us (people watching is great entertainment馃槈). I guess I am not a big fan of the unexpected and prefer to feel as though i am as aware as i can be in any given situation of what is happening around me. I don't see this as a negative as I am not a nervous type, just prefer to be aware of my surroundings. It's amazing how much you see and predict will happen and watch it unfold before you.
Stay safe people wherever you may be in the world and choose a good vantage point from which to see whats going on around you 馃榿
