Good Morning all of you lovely Hivers
So today we lose 2 more of the gang as the slow and steady exodus of people continues here. @biggypauls and his missus Koz, one of our instructors, have sadly departed and are headed back to the UK.
They've held out as long as they possibly could here but the facts are that there's just not enough business now to warrant staying any longer. It's very sad and they shall be missed. Having been part of the fabric here for 6 years, 1st as repeat guests and for the last 3 years as an integral part of the team it just feels odd.
Over the last 6 months there's been a steady bleed out of people that have made their lives here leaving to return back to their native countries as their businesses folded or were mothballed. I can see this trend continuing and the landscape is changing fast as is the general atmosphere here. We try and make the best of it but there's no denying it's not the same and because of all the changes it will evolve into a much different place in the future.
I already know of several others that will trickle out in the next weeks and it's left me feeling pretty flat this morning which is why I am writing this in my morning blog. Getting it out on here helps me make sense of the emotions I am going through and by typing it all out I get a sort of clarity. I can make sense of it all and put it into perspective and re focus.
I don't get overly concerned about if this morning blog gets weighty votes or anything as its my morning catharsis and I really like the engagement it's created over the last months so no matter what it will be my daily morning ritual. I do it because I like it. Simple.
I'm going to glug down more black juice now and get ready to head into the dive shop. It's been a rainy night the dive bar roof was leaking like hell last night as we sheltered from the downpour so we will have a spot of cleaning up to do.
Time to crack on
