Hail to the Hive!
It’s been a good long while since I posted a Reflection Hunter post but as I was watching a spectacular sunset over the Egyptian Pyramids at Giza I happened to notice a reflection in the ledge before me.
This then sent me off on a tangent tilting the camera back and forth, left and right, trying to find a good angle.
I got the odd inquisitive look from one or two of the other sunset gazers but I also got an understanding nod from one lady who correctly surmised what I was up to. “ reflection “ she said and smiled. I nodded and grinned back and then showed her the results and we both laughed.
As I was taking these shots my mind fantasized about the river nile and ancient times.
I do remember reading somewhere that water did once run up to the Pyramids as there used to be a tributary of the River Nile known as the Khufu branch.
It was instrumental in the construction of these amazing structures as it was how they transported the stone from hundreds of miles in the south.
Sadly the Khufu tributary of the River Nile dried up approximately 2 and a half thousand years ago leaving the Pyramids now completely surrounded by dry desert.
But I can still imagine and pretend in my mind that I am looking at the Pyramids by the Khufu branch of the nile as I take my reflection shots at sunset.
Why not?
