Hail to the Hive!
I recently manipulated some street art into #monochrome and was very pleased with the results and so as I entered the Art Gallery at the New Walk Museum in Leicester I immediately wondered if I could do something similar here.
It's a bit like making a different kind of art out of an art display. I patiently waited in the gallery for people to clear the way so I could get shots of just the pictures hanging on the wall but when I saw the couple sat in front of the paintings in quiet conversation I couldn't resist taking a cheeky shot of them and I think it's my favourite of the lot.
I still like the effect on monochrome of the pictures in their elaborate frames all on display.
There's a timeless feel to them and also it's the entire display that becomes the artwork and not the individual painting.
I have to say I don't think I've ever spent as long inan art gallery as I did today and I sat staring at the paintings for quite some time lost in my own thoughts as the imagery before me played out their own individual stories.
Yet it was still the sight of the couple sat quietly together taking in the artwork before them that left a lasting impression on me. Were they old friends meeting up? Or perhaps a couple on a day out together? Who knows? Theirs was yet another story in a gallery of pictures depicting stories. Maybe if they had put a little description next to themselves just like the paintings had they could have bee a living exhibit amongst the exhibits 馃榿
