The key word in this passage is "discharge". Go through the passage again and take note of the number of times it appears. The discharge is simply the flow of liquid which could be water, body fluid, diarrhoea, or discharge from sexual transmitted infections like gonorrhoea and syphilis, etc.
Note that the discharge makes the person unclean (vs. 3). Anything the person touches or spits upon is defiled. Those who touch him have to remain unclean until evening. Clay vessels that he touches are to be broken and wooden vessels washed (vs. 4-12). The possibility of infection was very wide. This is a picture of sin. Sin defiles, and anything sin touches becomes defiled and unacceptable to God (Romans 8:8). Sin contaminates everyone and everything. We must not play with sin.
Vs. 13-15 shows that when cured, the infected person can not be declared as clean without an atoning sacrifice. In the same way, nothing else will remove the defilement of sin from man, except the blood of Jesus Christ (1 John 1:8-9).
Lay hold of the grace and mercy made available by God through Jesus to atone for your sins.
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for the provision you have made for my cleansing through the blood of Jesus, so I can serve you acceptably.
