I woke up to snow on the ground four days this past week, anywhere from 1/2" to 3". That's actually typical for "spring" here in this area. Today I went around the yard with my phone, looking for some traditional signs of spring. I may have posted something similar a year or two ago. I do get enthused when the first plants come up and buds begin to form.
The Siberian squill are the first to bloom at my house. I used to have more of them, but I've moved plants around too much and only two seem to be left. This one has been blooming for a week or two, and is almost done now. Iris are visible in the background of the photo.
They hyacinths are getting ready to bloom! I've only had them two or three years, and am glad I decided to get them.
Again, I've moved plants around and added some here and there, and don't remember just what I have coming up. I really ought to write it down! I see grape hyacinths on the right, and I think that was supposed to be narcissus on the left. Time will tell.
Last year I grumbled because these didn't bloom in the spring. But they bloomed in the fall, when the foliage was all gone and I had forgotten about them! They are a fall-blooming crocus.
I'm sorry I couldn't get this in focus. It's a picture of leaf buds forming on the little lilac bush I planted two or three years ago. I probably should have gotten my camera, which does take close-ups.
And the rhubarb is coming up nicely!
