Some interesting beers and weekend projects for #Beersaturday

This #beersaturday was the first saturday in a while that the weather was nice in California. I had a few projects I wanted to get done. I started with an IPA brewed by Belching Beaver Brewing located on the outskirts of San Diego California. This beer is called the Deftones Phantom Bride and is a tribute to the song by the Deftones called Phantom Bride. The Phantom Bride is brewed with Amarillo, Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic hops with 7.1% ABV. Belching Beaver is popular from a peanut butter beer that is very interesting, so I thought I would give this one a chance and it did not disappoint. Phantom Bride had a great citrus taste common with a good IPA.

This first project I had to get done was painting a new bee hive. I have never kept bees before so this is a new adventure. I had 10,000 bees being delivered on Monday so the hive had to be ready.

While I was painting a nice camo patern using leaves and branches found in my yard I enjoyed a Drakes Brewing Best Coast IPA. Drakes Brewing started brewing in San Leandro California and has expanded to Oakland California. Drakes IPA is a go to beer for me. It has the IPA characteristics of the heavy usage of hops, but is easier drinking then some IPA's, Best Coast IPA is brewed with Cascade, Chinook, Citra, Idaho #7, and Mosaic hops with a 7% ABV. It also has a citrus and slight piney flavor.

Since I was painting, I have been building a table and chairs which was ready for staining. I stained the table and chairs in which I used a white oak to make the table top and chairs. The barrel was a barrel I bought from Ironstone Winery in Murphys California.

Now we have a spot on our upper deck to sit and enjoy some beers and even some food.

The last beer I had sounds strange but is really good. It is High Water Brewing which is located in Lodi California. The beer is called Campfire Stout and is done very well becuase it has the unforgettable taste of Smores. You can taste the chocolate, graham cracker, and marshmellow very easily in this beer. It is one of those beers that one or two is plenty but the taste is impressive. I am unable to locate any information about what hops are used in the beer but it is 6.5% ABV. If you can find this beer anywhere pick it up and give it a try.

My last project for the day was bottling up a chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon that I made in November and December. When I made the wine I posted about it in #Beersaturday / Catching a concert in San Francisco. So know it has been about 6 months and the wine is ready for bottling. I was able to bottle a case of 12 for each wine. I was really happy with the Chardonnay, the Cabernet is recommended to age about a year before tasting so it sits on the shelf for now.
