This #Beersaturday, we went to Mariposa, California to visit friends. Mariposa is a small town near Yosemite, one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. I have always felt fortunate to live so close to such a beautiful place. I have probably visited Yosemite more then 50 times in my life and still love it as much as I did the first time.
This is a picture of the Yosemite Valley and Merced River.
This is a picture of Half Dome, one of the more popular places to hike to. In the summer months cable handrails are installed on the rock so that you can climb the dome for one of the best views of the park.
Of course Yosemite is famous for it's waterfalls and this is a picture from a distance of Yosemite Falls.
Back to #Beersaturday, we started with dinner and beers at 1850. 1850 is a small restaurant with great food and great beer. The beer is brewed offsite, but they do brew their own beer. The restaurant is named 1850 becuase the State of California became a state in 1850.
The beer I always seem to order here is called Timberline. It is a typical IPA and has a great piney taste. I always enjoy beers with a piney taste and enjoying one in the mountains seems to always taste better. Timberline has an ABV of 6.8% and is brewed with Cascade and Eureka hops.
After finishing a few beers and some great food we headed back to our friends ranch for a few more beers.
These are a couple of picures looking out from the ranch. So I grabbed a Faction Brewing Pale Ale. Faction Brewing is located in Alameda, California. The pale ale was nothing fancy just a good pale ale. Nowadays, just finding a straight pale ale without the intense hop flavor is difficult. This pale ale has an ABV of 5.4% and is brewed with Mosaic, Apollo, and Columbus hops.
The last beer I had was Big Sky Brewing's Powder Hound. Big Sky Brewing is located in Missoula, Montana. Big Sky Brewing is one of my favorite breweries and produces one of the best brown ales called Moose Drool. But this time I was having Powder Hound which is their winter ale. This is a beer that has a carmel flavor with plenty of hops. Powder Hound has an ABV of 6.5% and is brewed with Hallertau, Palisade, and Amarillo hops. This beer is similar to holiday ales but doesn't have a strong spice like the holiday ales.
Hope everyone has a great week and thanks for reading.
