I definitely heard it! Didn't see it but it was a couple seconds of loud cracking and crashing during a wind storm a few weeks ago. And wouldn't you know, it landed right on my wood pile. It was a sign!

My wood pile was getting a little low so this dead tree falling into my yard was not a problem, it was a gift. Free heat! We have a natural gas heater but we also have a wood burning stove that produces a ton of heat when we fire it up. It's great on cold snowy days, and we get a lot of those here in Truckee, California.

I realized I didn't get any pics of my old chainsaw, but there was some chainsaw drama. The chain fell off the guide, got buggered up, and I had to go buy a new one. Ok, not really drama but the new chain cut through the last of the wood so much faster and smoother. It was another little blessing in disguise.

Some of the bigger rounds were started with a chisel and sledgehammer. Most of the splitting was done with my axe. It took a couple weekend days of picking away at it but I ended up with about a cord of "free" wood!

Done. Tired and done!

Thanks for looking, I hope you all had a fun and productive weekend!
