Am I actually writing my script for a new video right now? Today a bunch of cool things happened to me, and I have to admit: typical me. Then again, it's exactly the confirmation that I'm completely on the right path for myself.

Today, after ages, I finally took my cassette deck connection cable for the power amp to Sinnl & Hanten GmbH in Vienna's 7th district (Neubau). Recommended to me, and probably the gods of HiFi repair. Yes, you read that right – cassette deck.

Years ago I treated myself to the first Sony Dolby Surround system. Its own power amp, Dolby and – naturally, typically Sony – individual components, but again with special wiring. Technics was far better and smarter there. Still, it was the time when HiFi was still HiFi and there were genuinely cool high-end products.

The Technics 1210s, CD player, DAT – and then at some point came the MiniDisc, which never really caught on. The fact is: I miss my system, the one with the broken volume knob.

No sooner said than done: dropped off the cable and then had something to eat at the Asian place on Amerlingstraße. Top, delicious – and right across from Café Ritter.

Now, I thought to myself: "Great, I'll treat myself to a coffee."
No sooner said than done – though I was a bit pissed off, because the table I had my eye on was once again taken by two pretty ladies. Classically, I thought: "Well then, I'll just sit down with them!"

That didn't quite happen, and after paying I walked over and thought: if a table is free there now, I'll have a coffee – and if not, I'll head home. You have to know that I'm supposed to cut my coffee consumption significantly.

No sooner said than done: there really was still a table free in the garden seating area in front of the café. Anyone who doesn't know the place should know that there are around six tables in front of Ritter and space is limited.

It didn't take long and I got my espresso. I pulled out my laptop and shot video and photos.

A small fun fact: A lady who crossed the street ahead of me deliberately stopped so she wouldn't be seen in the photos or walk through the shot. When I was just about to start working, a family arrived at Café Ritter – father (grandpa), mother (grandma), daughter (mother) and child – and looked around for a spot. The grandpa, a mature overover 20-plus, was in a wheelchair, and the whole procedure of getting into the café would have been a hassle – quite apart from the fact that it was full inside too.

I decided on the spot to give up my table, my spot, since I had to head home anyway and had commitments. I hurried after the lady who was looking around inside and just said that my spot was about to free up, but that I still had to pay.

The waiter came, I wanted to pay, until the overjoyed lady said: "I'm treating you to the espresso." You could see the beaming faces, the gratitude, that I stood up and left.

Well, and I just said: "I'm not going to say no to that," thanked her and added that I would now mention this positively somewhere.

So they still exist, the nice Viennese – those people who truly appreciate things and show gratitude. I was happy, left and rode home past the bank.

Honestly, I learned a few things for myself here again:

Manifestation, gratitude – and do something good every now and then, because there are people who may be far worse off than you. When I saw the old man with his tubes in the wheelchair, I thought: hey, come on, get up.

Well, and I had to go anyway, I'm currently supposed to skip coffee, and I had my commitments.

Have you ever had similar experiences? Write them to me, or your thoughts on the story, in the comments.

Best regards,
