If you suddenly think, “Let’s visit Bangkok for a bit?” while visiting Cox’s Bazar, don’t worry, it’s possible without a passport and extra money! I suddenly discovered this place while wandering around Marine Drive. I had never even heard of the name before. So my first impression was, “I didn’t see this coming!”
The restaurant is exactly the type that doesn’t try to impress. Old-fashioned building, greenery all around, very minimal setup, but everything works together so beautifully that the whole place has a great Thai vibe. There is an option to sit inside, but if you come here and don’t sit outside, you’re doing yourself a disservice. The fun of sitting and eating right next to Marine Drive is different.
The menu is not very large, but there are no shortcuts in quality. Rather, I tried a few items that can give a good challenge to even the good Thai restaurants in Dhaka. There is a small Thai tea stall in front, from where tea and drinks are served. A small detail, but it adds to the whole experience quite nicely.
Another thing I found quite interesting. There is an online newspaper office above the restaurant. The whole atmosphere made it seem like it was not just a place to eat, but a spot where people regularly come to hang out, talk, and spend time.
If you go to Cox's Bazar, there is a long drive on Marine Drive towards Inani. If you stop at this little 'Bangkok Gateway' on that road, you will probably think, like me, "Why didn't anyone tell me this before?"
