@discouragedones (Alireza) es "Woman Life Freedom." (Mujer,vida, libertad). Esto me llevó a seleccionar para esta semana la canción "Melina" que compusiera e interpretara magistralmente el excelente vocalista español Camilo Sesto. Esta canción hace alusión a la vida de Melina Mercouri una actriz, cantante, activista y política griega quien se jugó el todo por el todo cuando se levantó en su pais una dictadura militarista. Dió varios conciertos y organizó muchas marchas contra la dictadura. Fue una mujer valiente. Sufrió diversos intentos de asesinato y se vio obligada a salir de su país, residiendo en Francia durante siete años.
Luchó desde el exilio por la libertad de su pueblo. Cuando regresó la democracia a Grecia ella pudo regresar también. En 1981 se convirtió en la primera mujer griega nombrada Ministro de Cultura. Falleció en 1994 s los 73 años de edad, por un cáncer del pulmón.

Para mí, el poder entonar esta canción reviste gran importancia porque el ejemplo de Melina Mercouri permanece latente en todo país donde se haya secuestrado la democracia,donde impere el totalitarismo. Melina Mercouri fue una mujer admirable, de ejemplar valentía y arrojo y su vida debe ser conocida por todos.

Hello, dear Hive Open Mic community. This week the theme selected by our recent Spotlight Artist
@discouragedones (Alireza) is "Woman Life Freedom." This led me to select for this week the song "Melina" masterfully composed and performed by the excellent Spanish vocalist Camilo Sesto. This song alludes to the life of Melina Mercouri, a Greek actress, singer, activist and politician who risked everything when she rose in her country a militaristic dictatorship. She gave several concerts and organized many marches against the dictatorship. She was a brave woman. She suffered various assassination attempts and was forced to leave her country, residing in France for seven years.She fought from exile for the freedom of her people. When democracy returned to Greece she was able to return too. In 1981 she became the first Greek woman appointed Minister of Culture. She died in 1994 at the age of 73, due to lung cancer.
For me, being able to sing this song is of great importance because the example of Melina Mercouri remains latent in every country where democracy has been kidnapped, where totalitarianism prevails. Melina Mercouri was an admirable woman, of exemplary courage , and her life should be known by all.
