Please refer to this post for the above title-related question.
Would you rather do a high-paying job that you hate, or a low-paying job that you love? And why?
I gave an answer to the above question in the comment section of the above post. I felt I wanted to write more about it and chose to write a post on my blog on Hive rather than choose a community.
I answered that I would love to do a job that I liked, of course, but it would not help with my expenses and livelihood. That job would start with great enthusiasm but after a month of toiling hard, the salary would not be enough for me to live a life where I do not have to worry about the next meal or what to cut in order to have travel money at least.
Trust me, I have lived a life like that in the past. I got a salary that was just enough for travel money and food. I could not even bear to think of buying costly clothes leave alone traveling for fun. The end of each day was a question about how to carry over the month without having to go broke.
I can only imagine the pain, many young people still go through all this all over the world. Some are well off. I agree that they have never known poverty or hunger. While some are saving the coins just to make ends meet.
So, if I were to get a job that pays well but it was a job that I hated doing, I would, in reality, think twice about refusing the job. I mean I would still cringe at the thought of doing the job but reality strikes. it does not mean that I will accept a job that goes against my values. I would never accept a job that is illegal or against morality. I would also never work in situations that are unclean because health hazards nowadays are real and what is the use of money when you are not healthy enough to enjoy what you earned?
Speaking about the situation in my country, there are lots of young men and women who are really well educated, especially in my state who do not get good jobs and end up working as bus conductors or food suppliers. Good opportunities do not knock on everybody's door.
Even in the IT sector, it is not all roses. Many IT employees were laid off not because they were incompetent but because fresh graduates who were smarter were in queue waiting to enter their dream job. So, that is the situation and there is nothing anybody can do about it.
Such is the harsh situation of life. The secret to being successful in life is to adapt to the situation one goes through and not succumb to the pressure. It is easy to give up but it takes a fighter to win and smile in the end. Remember that there are people around you who are helpless and if you have even one ounce of strength to fight, do it.
