I am not too sure about meditation and I have not tried to meditate either. I have attended Balvikas classes during my growing up years, though. It is like Sunday school where the children are taught mantras and stories about Hindu Gods.

As I grew up, I came to love reading the Amar Chitra Katha comics which are stories with illustrations and aimed at children. The comic books are stored in almost every school library across the nation. So, children get to read about the great culture of India in a simple and colorful way and understand it better than long texts or study materials.

Meditation under trees and secluded rooms? That certainly is near impossible if you live in a crowded city. The sound of horns, the people who talk, the hustle and bustle of the city and the timetabled existence; all this makes silence impossible.

So, I decided that watching nature would be better and I make it a point to silently observe the natural surroundings which are very calming. It helps that I now live in a proper village, far from the city.

Have you tried to meditate?

What was the experience like?
