@saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
Starting next season, Brackets will be implemented in Modern Format. It is a huge game update that will return league caps to Modern, but at the same time, will give the players the ability to compete on an equal footing with their card collections without getting beaten by decks whose levels were higher than theirs. But before implementing Brackets, Survival Mode has been used as a testing ground for the viability of the liquidity bots that would compensate for the lack of players because they get to be stretched to different Brackets.
And since Brackets will be going to Modern next season, this also means that this season will be the last time that I will be playing in Survival Mode, at least with this kind of setting that can only use Modern cards.
The Last Survival Push
Similar to the previous times that I played Survival, I also chose to play Survival Bracket IV this season because this is where I feel it is the middle ground between small-time players and high-league players, so if the experience here is terrible, players may not want to push for a higher league. Because at some point, I stopped playing Survival, it seems that my ratings got reset, so last season, I had to start all the way from a 0 rating. After playing a hundred battles last season, I was able to reach a 1940 rating, which is around the Gold III tier, but after the season reset, I ranked down two tiers, which brought me to Silver II at a 1400 rating. And that is where I started my grind this season.
Given my current schedule, I already know that playing a total of 250 Survival battles is something that I could not achieve, so instead, my goal for this season was to finish the season with at least 100 battles, which entitles me to the leaderboard reward. Losing the 250k Glint for my feedback sucks, but I do not think it was worth the additional 150 battles. Instead, placing on the leaderboard is more than enough for me.
And less than a day before the end of the season, I was able to I was able to play the minimum required number of battles to be on the leaderboard, and I was currently at rank 14 with 2860 rating, which is within the Diamond III tier. With this, I was able to secure another 40k Glint and 2 BCX of Darkguard Hellion, not to mention the Ascension Token that will allow me to enter the Ascension Tournament for a chance at more Glint rewards depending on how I perform.
At the same time, because I managed to win at least 50 battles in Survival Mode, I will also get an additional 25 Fortune Entries by next season, which is big because there are only 4 weekly draws remaining, so those additional 25 entries can really help to increase my odds of winning cards.
Now, if you look at my win rate, I had a win rate of 86%, meaning that I have won 86 out of 100 battles. Quite great, right? I can't really say that's the case, because some of those wins involve the bot using Foundation Archons, which immediately cap their team at silver level, even if it's not the majority of the battles.
On the other hand, most of my losses against the liquidity bots were not because they play a powerful team, but mostly because of the rulesets such as Junior Varsity and Little League, which I really don't have any decent archons to use.
Closing
And that was my final Grind in Survival Mode under Modern Only settings. Starting next season, not only it will be a all cards mode, but they will also probably return the original cooldown restrictions on cards, which will probably make playing 100, let 50 battles very challenging for someone with as little a card collection as me. But let's see how it will go, because I will really need those additional Fortune entries.
