Hello there!
@saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
Starlight Caravan was Splinterlands' most recent set, but unlike the typical card set that is designed to be on Modern Ranked, this new set was specifically made for Frontier Mode, though just like Frontier cards, you can also use Starlight Caravan in Modern to some extent. This set consisted of 6 Archons and 30 units, all of which are capped at Silver level. They also had a far higher mana cost in contrast to their stats and abilities so that they would not overshadow Modern cards with the same card level.
In this post, I want to take a look at the Fire cards of Starlight Caravan.
Starlight Caravan Fire Cards
There are a total of 5 cards under the Starlight Caravan Fire Element. Four of which were fire units, while the remaining one is an Archon. Their stats and abilities were not that if we used other modern cards at the same level as standard, but if it is mainly for Frontier use, then having more cards gives the player more flexibility and advantage than his opponent.
Mirela Veil is a non-damage unit with the Skitterkin Bloodline, meaning that it does not have an attack. Furthermore, it has the Untrainable debilitation, so players can't use Weapon's Training to give attack on this card. That said, it has the Magic Reflect ability, so whenever a magic unit inflicts damage on this card, a portion of that damage is returned to the attacker. When it comes to its general stats, it has a maximum health of 7 and a maximum speed of 3, making it quite a decent tank for only 3 mana. There also hasn't been a 3-mana card in Frontier until Starlight Caravan was introduced, so the addition of this card will certainly change how some matches are played.
On the other hand, Scorchpion is a ranged unit with the Skitterkin Bloodline, so this one can attack with ranged damage, but it is extremely slow, as it only has 1 speed and only has 4 health, so it can easily be defeated in a single attack, so if you happen to have a unit with either Opportunity or Snipe. It can also only inflict 2 ranged damage, so with a mana cost of 6, this card seems to be a stretch to use. The only saving grace of this card is that it has the Close Range ability, so even when it was placed in the first position, it can still attack.
In contrast, Fire Trinity, seems to be a lot better because even though it has the same damage and health as Scorchpion, it has 4 speed, making it a lot faster, and has 2 armor, so it can't be easily taken down by Opportunity and Snipe attacks, with a slightly higher mana cost of 7.
But what makes this Elemental unit stand out more is that it has the Focus Guard ability, so when the card that is at the back of it is a ranged unit, that unit will gain additional ranged damage at the beginning of the round.
And for the Fire Legendary unit, we have Corvus Shadow-Prowler, who has the Feliform Bloodline. At max level, it has a max health of 5, max speed of 3, and a max magic damage of 5, making it quite a powerful card despite its low health, but it also costs 9 mana to use. For its abilities, it has the Scattershot, which randomizes the target of the attack with each passing turn, and Snare that removes the Flying ability of the target.
Finally, with the only Fire Archon of the Starlight Caravan, Khrystyna Skyseer. There was not much to say about this Archon, since it does not give any type of abilities to units, and even though it's an Elf Archon, it does not have a Bloodline Dominion, so you cannot really use it to summon Elf units from other elements. Its saving grace is that it only costs 4 mana to use, so it is far cheaper than the other Frontier Archons.
Closing
And those were the Fire cards under the Starlight Caravan. Some great takeaway from it is that Frontier now has a 3-mana card, a less mana-hungry Archon, and a new ability that could help players win their matches when properly utilized.
Thank you, and see you on the next post!
