Yesterday marked the 46th weekly fortune draw for the Conclave Arcana rewards, wherein, during each period, there are 78 lucky players who will receive a random Black Foil, Gold Foil Arcane, or Black Foil Arcane Conclave Arcana reward card from the remaining reward pool of prizes. To participate in the draw, there is a small fee of 125 DEC to get a Fortune Pass, and you need fortune entries that you can acquire through playing ranked battles, chests, or by directly purchasing them through the Glint shop. The reason I'm talking about it is that I won a Black Foil Thornmaw Berserker on yesterday's draw.
And by no means was it an easy win, because with a total of 278,426 Fortune entries that were entered during the draw, only 316 entries are mine. That was despite the fact that I have already spent 50k Glint to buy 2 batches of Fortune entries. Regardless, I was thankful to won another Black Foil card in my main account the fourth time.
Thornmaw Berserker is a melee Avian unit with a mana cost of 7 and has the Death attribute. At max level, it has a total damage of 3, speed of 4, armor of 4, and health of 9, which can make it a decent tank, specially when against magic units since it has the Magic Reflect ability that will return magic damage to the attacker, and it also has the Life Leech ability that will allow the card to gain health by 50% of the damage it inflicted. But if you do not want to use it as a tank, that is fine too because it has the Charge ability that will allow it to attack regardless of its position, as well as the Final Rest ability that blocks revival abilities once per game block after it was nerfed into Wazzoo. Being an Avian unit, it can be summoned by the Earth Archon Elowen Sylphie through Bloodline Dominion.
As for which rulesets it can be used in, I would say that this card can be good during Up Close and Personal, since only melee units can be used, and this card can attack in any position. It can also prevent your opponent from resurrecting some of its units during the Born Again ruleset, where all units get the Rebirth ability.
In this battle, you can see that the opponent has 2 units with the Resurrect ability that will allow him to revive any of his ally units twice. But because I have Thornmaw Berserker in my team, the opponent can only revive a unit once.
And so, as soon as the opponent uses its resurrect ability, it is immediately blocked by the Final Rest ability.
At the same time, you can see how, despite the card being in the third position, it was still able to attack Bera Dallin, who was in the second position.
And that was it for the common unit, Thornmaw Berserker. Among the Black Foil cards that I won, this is a card that I want to keep with me, since I often use it in battles with my current deck build, even when I have already fully maxed out its Regular Foil version. As for the regular foil version, I am thinking of fully unbinding it so that I can either sell it or rent it soon, but to do that, I still need to have 319 common unbinding scrolls to unbind it.
Thank you, and see you on the next post!
