El día de hoy les traigo una manualidad que hice de último minuto para una cumpleañera de mi familia, no tenía pensado regalarle nada porque no tenía material, ni mucho presupuesto, pero decidí buscar una opción económica que pudiera hacer con retazos de foami y bueno como ya estoy un poco cansada de regalar dulces 🤭 esta vez decidí que era momento de aprender a decorar un bolígrafo, busque varias referencias en Instagram y YouTube hasta que encontré una opción que me gustó bastante y que además pude adaptar a mi gusto porque ya saben que amo personalizar los regalos con la inicial de la persona a quien va dirigido el detalle.
Today I’m sharing a craft I put together at the last minute for a birthday girl in my family. I hadn’t planned on giving her anything because I didn’t have any supplies or much of a budget, but I decided to look for an inexpensive option I could make with scraps of foam. And well, since I’m a little tired of giving candy as gifts 🤭 this time I decided it was time to learn how to decorate a pen. I looked up several ideas on Instagram and YouTube until I found one I really liked—and that I could also adapt to my own taste—because, as you know, I love personalizing gifts with the initial of the person I’m giving it to.
La verdad tenía muchas ganas desde hace tiempo de aprender a decorar bolígrafos y como siempre los cumpleaños para mí son la excusa perfecta porque me siento motivada a hacerle algo lindo a mis seres queridos y uso esa motivación para aprender algo nuevo, así que me encantó como quedo y también me gustó mucho poder hacerlo con mi propio estilo, porque sí a la hora de la verdad las bases para hacer manualidades son las mismas, pero luego podemos ir imprimiendole nuestro propio estilo y además aunque parezca que no eso se puede lograr incluso sin tener muchos materiales, pero ya sin más preámbulo los invito a ver la lista de materiales que use y el paso a paso de esta hermosa manualidad. 🥰💕
To be honest, I’ve really wanted to learn how to decorate pens for a long time, and as always, birthdays are the perfect excuse for me because they motivate me to make something nice for my loved ones, and I use that motivation to learn something new, so I loved how it turned out, and I also really enjoyed being able to do it in my own style—because, when it comes down to it, the basics of crafting are the same, but then we can add our own personal touch. Plus, even though it might not seem like it, you can achieve this even without a lot of materials. Para esta manualidad lo primero que hice fue cortar cuatro cuadrados de 6.5Cm en foami escarchado fucsia y 2 cuadadros de 4.5Cm en foami escarchado verde.
For this craft project, the first thing I did was cut four 6.5-cm squares from fuchsia glitter foam and two 4.5-cm squares from green glitter foam.
Luego tome cada cuadrado de foami fucsia escarchado y le hice cuatro cortes, un truco que aprendí cuando tengo que hacer ese tipo de cortes es doblar el foami por la mitad y donde se marca el dobles allí debo cortar ✂️ y con esto evitó hacer el corte mal.
Then I took each square of frosted fuchsia foam and made four cuts. A trick I learned for making these kinds of cuts is to fold the foam in half and cut along the crease ✂️this helped me avoid making a bad cut.
Al hacer los cuatro cortes me quedan como una especie de cuatro cuadrados los cuales debo redondear con la ayuda de la tijera para comenzar a formar los pétalos. Luego pase cada pieza por la plancha para darles forma. Hice el mismo procedimiento con las piezas verdes que son los sépalos de la rosa.
After making the four cuts, I’m left with what look like four squares, which I have to round off with scissors to start shaping the petals. Then I ironed each piece to give them shape. I followed the same procedure with the green pieces, which are the rose’s sepals.
Luego comencé a armar la rosa, metiendo cada pétalo a través del bolígrafo, la verdad al principio creí que se iban a romper las piezas por lo grueso del bolígrafo, pero gracias a Dios eso no pasó. Y la forma de armar la rosa es exactamente igual como ya e explicado en otras ocasiones, pegue el primer pétalo entre si, pero hacer el centro de la rosa y luego los demás pétalos al rededor de este, y luego fuí poniendo las demás capas y los infaltables sépalos.
Then I started assembling the rose, threading each petal through the pen. To be honest, at first I thought the pieces were going to break because the pen was so thick, but thank God that didn't happen. And the way to assemble the rose is exactly as I’ve explained on other occasions: I glued the first petal to form the center of the rose, then added the other petals around it, and then I added the remaining layers and the essential sepals.
Luego forre el resto del bolígrafo con una tira de foami fucsia escarchado de 1Cm de ancho, pero la verdad luego me arrepentí porque pensé que se vería mejor si la tira fuese de medio centímetro, pero bueno esto es ensayo y error a la próxima intentaré hacerlo así.
Then I wrapped the rest of the pen with a 1-centimeter-wide strip of frosted fuchsia foam, but to be honest, I regretted it afterward because I thought it would look better if the strip were half a centimeter wide. Oh well, it’s all trial and error—next time I’ll try doing it that way.
Luego fue el turno de forrar la tapa del bolígrafo y para eso tuve que quitarle el clip que sirve para sujetar el bolígrafo a las libretas o la ropa, esto lo hice con un cuchillo. Luego recorte una pieza de aproximadamente unos 4.5 Cm de foami verde escarchado y lo pegue al rededor de la tapa.
Next, it was time to cover the pen cap, so I had to remove the clip used to attach the pen to notebooks or clothing; I did this with a knife. Then I cut out a piece of frosted green foam measuring about 4.5 cm and glued it around the cap.
Luego recorte una tira de foami verde escarchado de 30Cm de largo y 6Cm de ancho, luego lo doble a la mitad y la pegue para hacer unos pequeños cortes por todo el largo de la pieza. Luego la pegué al rededor de la tapa, como pueden ver en la imagen. Me encantó porque luego de haber llegado a este paso me di cuenta de que esta pieza simula algo así como el pasto donde esta la rosa 🌹 y lo ame. 🥰
Next, I cut a strip of frosted green foam that was 30 cm long and 6 cm wide, then folded it in half and glued it to make small cuts along the entire length of the piece. Then I glued it around the lid, as you can see in the picture. I loved it because once I got to this step, I realized that this piece looks like the grass where the rose is 🌹, and I just loved it. 🥰
Luego le hice una base a la tapa, cortando una pieza de 6.5 Cm de foami verde escarchado y una pieza un poco más pequeña de cartón, pegue ambas piezas entre sí con silicón y luego pegue la tapa a la base.
Next, I made a base for the lid by cutting a 6.5-cm piece of frosted green foam and a slightly smaller piece of cardboard. I glued the two pieces together with silicone, and then glued the lid to the base.
Y este fue el resultado como pueden ver le agregué un toque muy mío colocándole esa mariposa 🦋 de foami que tenía guardada desde hace tiempo, recuerdo que la hice, pero no sé porque no la use y la verdad es que combina perfecto con los colores que use para esta manualidad y también la personalice con la inicial del nombre de la cumpleañera. Al final me di cuenta que se veía el cartón de la bese así que con una tira fina de foami verde la tape y siento que quedó bastante prolijo el trabajo. Mi detalle favorito de esta manualidad, sin duda lo que siento le dió el toque distintivo fue la inicial del nombre de la cumpleañera, la verdad siento que los regalos personalizados son hermosos y especiales. 😍🥰
And this was the result—as you can see, I added a personal touch by including that foam butterfly 🦋 that I’d had tucked away for a while. I remember making it, but I don’t know why I never used it, and honestly, it goes perfectly with the colors I used for this craft. I also personalized it with the initial of the birthday girl’s name. In the end, I realized you could see the cardboard underneath the kiss, so I covered it with a thin strip of green foam, and I think the project turned out pretty neat. My favorite detail of this craft—and without a doubt, what I feel gave it that distinctive touch—was the initial of the birthday girl’s name. Honestly, I think personalized gifts are beautiful and special. 😍🥰
