Next Saturday I am driving to Portugal again. This time is gonna be different as I plan to spend several months rebuilding the properties and taking care of them. I have been able to leave many tools and equipment on the previous trips, but this time I will travel with two people who will help me with the reconstruction of the stable, and no matter how many things I have already purchased, I always have the car packed with stuff. As there will be three of us in the car plus our belongings, I decided to purchase a rooftop carrier to gain extra space.

I could have asked one of my brothers to lend me their rigid cage, but I will be spending many weeks away and they may need to use it during that period so I decided to purchase one. As I started looking at the options I found a new type I had never heard of, soft waterproof ones.

There are pros and cons with the soft option compared to the rigid one but the price is a big difference and it seems soft may be more convenient as I do not intend to use it many times and you can fold it after usage and store it inside the car or anywhere in the house. After checking different options I went for this brand and ordered it on Amazon to have it delivered yesterday morning.

The folded package was even smaller than I expected and after unfolding it and doing my first check, it seemed quite convenient. The material is very strong, the zippers are waterproof and perfectly covered and the size is pretty big. Of course, it is not recommended to store hard stuff, the idea is to pack only clothes and soft materials such as sleeping bags. But I am sure I will have the extra space I will need to fit all the stuff needed in the car. Prices for tools are slightly higher in Portugal, and although you can find anything in the area where I have the properties, there are not too many options, so I am purchasing most of the electric components here plus some of the tools.

I have been doing a lot of planning as the idea is to work on the farm's tiny house first to get installed there before we start rebuilding the stable in the village. Get ready for some posts on the process starting next week!
