There is a special story of this lemon tree, which started probably a decades back, when the boy was a kid. I often encouraged him to get involved in gardening from very early age and as a result he planted a seed, taken out of a lemon at home. That lemon was gifted by someone and was special in size and quality, so the kid loved it and thought, we should have a similar tree. It was planted in a small pot in balcony and with time it grew and created inconvenience in the balcony, as we have a very small balcony, and the thorns would often pinch. One day I decided, we will give it to someone, but the kid developed sentiments with it, so he asked me to take and plant in a bigger plastic container which I did. Eventually, it grew bigger and the kid wanted me to bring it to my native and plant somewhere. And now let me show you the interesting part.
I brought it to my native, but never could plant it and as a result it stayed in that poly bag only.
But look at that - it broke the poly bag and started developing its root and this year, we have quite a lot of lemon coming in it, which made me feel shy, seeing it's determination to grow. A plant never grew like this in my entire gardening career - it never stopped adopting to all kind of challenges and still growing. Now I am thinking, how to build a boundary of soil around it, and still not got the idea, because after that, I will cut that poly bag to allow it grow from all sides. Some amount of brain storming going on - if you have an idea, please advise. Nature is so fascinating - at times, these plants encourage us to do more - gardening is so much fun.
And this star gooseberry plant has created joy this year by bearing fruit for the first time. They have a sour taste but they can help reduce inflammation and protect our body from oxidative stress. We soak them in salt and add a little green chili before enjoying that mind blowing taste. Kids do not like them much but still we encourage them to eat few, explaining the benefits. That is how you pass on the knowledge to them. Now let me present you some varieties of flower photos - I never have to worry to go and pluck flowers in very early morning like in our society.
When I look close at these flowers, I feel, nothing can match the colors of nature - so many colors perfectly blended.
Our backward is full of flowers and birds - mom keeps water for them, and they enjoy the ambience and we their company.
This year we are going to have a good yield of coconuts - essential part of our daily living.
Mom did a nice usage of a obsolete container.
And I loved these small but beautiful flowers - she brought small stems from somewhere she traveled and whatever she plants grows nicely.
I brought and planted some all seasoned inca saplings here as well - nothing was on plan in the summer, so why not try something new !!! In exchange now I have taken few stems of these small flowers, may be you will see them in my future post. Whenever I come here, I plan all activities to complete all her work, yesterday, we went for a doctor consultation, and he said, its good to see her working so hard at this age of 74 - source of my inspiration as well.
Before I wrap, let me present you a spectacular gift from Nature - who can tell about this plant ? More to come on this...
